It took me a lot longer to journal through the completion of PACT 002 and figure out what direction I wanted to head for this next PACT. I had to pull out the book (Tiny Experiments, Le Cunff) and read through a couple of different sections. Part of the question is: What am I actually trying to learn by doing these experiments? What is the REAL question I am asking? Getting that all clear took me over 1,500 words using the 750 Words website where I journal each night.
It was difficult not to fall into the trap of thinking of this as habit building or resolution setting. Keeping my perspective on learning more about myself, getting curious about what my body wants from an experiential perspective rather than an aesthetic one – this is what I am trying to keep in mind. So, I landed on finding ways to increase lung capacity while staying respectful and cognizant of anxiety triggers. I’m removing the minimum duration portion of the experiment this time. I’m adding in changes in elevation – inclines immediately increase my deep breathing, and setting a distance objective (a landmark nearby). I’m not restricting time of day so scheduling worries won’t be a hindrance. I think I’m comfortable with this direction, and after the 10 days will once again reassess.
PACT 003: I will walk to the hydrant on the main road and back for the next 10 days.
