There’s no time like the present. I’ve decided I’m in need of some kind of action in my life. “Taking some”, that is, not “getting some”. And I’ve decided that I want to try Anne-Laure Le Cunff’s Tiny Experiments perspective: shifting from “fixed ladders” to “growth loops”.
My area of experimentation will be broad: Health & Fitness. Like many women, I have spent a LOT of my life contemplating the state of my body and finding it lacking. Suffice it to say, “tried and failed” can encapsulate most of my experiences in this area.
I’ve managed to stop myself from the endless resolution setup and failure cycle. But I don’t want to avoid failure by just not trying anything.
I can feel that I’m not giving this a particularly good introduction, but it is what it is. I’m going to create a PACT. Read this article to learn more about PACT vs. SMART.
So I’m jumping right in. 10 days should be short enough. Walking outside is a thing I want to do and I struggle with procrastination and avoidance when it comes to actually doing it. So, let’s get curious. What happens when I try to commit? Is it the doing? Is it the every day part? Is it the duration? Where do I hit the off ramp?
Here’s my status tracker. Check the comments for any updates and reflections I had.
Oh, this blog post is part of the “learning in public” tool from the book. Cheers!
