sometimes i can’t count sometimes thoughts won’t coalesce a haiku brick wall

a sign in the yard but no pomp and circumstance landmarks stolen by covid

anger just masks fear we can be better than this cooler heads prevail

rainy afternoon fannie may and the hobbit happy mother’s day

i’m phoning it in we had fondue for dinner haiku forty-two

when husband is chef the kitchen smells of heaven quarantine delights

the rain comes again cozy little hobbit hole the comforts of spring

fresh breeze and sunshine morning coffee on the deck the pleasure of spring

some days I hate spring allergens in overdrive itchy and sneezing

rumble of thunder dark room glows with lightning pulse reluctant rising

hostile or friendly are the eyes enough clue to what’s behind the mask

it’s a run-on week i can’t tell the days apart thank god it’s thursday

another weekday commuting from room to room quarantine rhythm

a bored teenager cumbersome long hair upkeep garage barbershop

i sit down and feel my fingers tap syllables my haiku process

landmark day for me count my trips around the sun they are forty-nine

early risers hear conversations in the sky bird cacophony
