A New Year

Happy New Year!

I have to tell you, 2008 was not my favorite year.  The past several months have been particularly challenging.  Yeah, yeah.  I know.  Challenge brings growth, but I don’t have to like it.  Two miscarriages, a long awaited but essentially missed vacation due to a monster case of bronchitis, weight gain.  Ugh.

Hello and WELCOME 2009!  🙂

My last post was short and almost to the point.  Passion.  What is it that drives me?  I’d have to say that in the recent past it has been obligation, responsibility and sometimes, simply survival.  Not a very Life filled life.

This past week I have read the book “The Shack“.  Wow.  There was nothing coincidental about my Mom loaning me that book when we visited them at Christmas.  It’s cases like this that reaffirm my belief that God does things in His own perfect time.  That book was a water filled cup for my shriveled crusty sponge of a soul.  SLUURRRRRRRPPP!!!!

So here I sit, on a January 1 morning, doing one of the things that I love to do.  Blogging.  Though I don’t always have something superior to say, I like to write and I’m not going to get any better at it until I do it on a regular basis.

I’m going to pick up the book reviewing, meal planning, and general chatting.  And here and there, I hope to pose a question or two that arise in my mind for deeper study.  If anyone reading wants to chime in with your own inspiration – please do!  I really do welcome interaction!  De-lurk!

One of the first books I have in front of me to read and review is “First Place 4 Health“.  I have an idea of what this program will present.  I am all too familiar with “Christian Weight Loss Programs”.  There was a Q&A sheet that came with the book that was explaining how it’s different.  It is a revised version of a prior program that has existed for many years.  As they explained the changes (softer language, incorporating newer scientific findings) it brought me to this question:

What is the difference between softly-padded, nicely-worded walls of Law and living free in Grace?

I’ll be exploring this and more.  Hope you’ll join me!

Happy New Year!!

  1. I love reading your stuff, LP! You really do have a way with words and a beautiful way about you when revealing your true self – a truly selfless act.

Happy ’09 (two-thousand takes waaaaay too long to say so I have resoluted to use only the “oh nine” part!) My one and only resolution! YAY!

  2. He is ‘specially fond’ of you!! I LOVE that saying from the Shack. I finished reading it during the summer. When September rolled along and my husband was wrongfully dismissed, leaving us without health care benefits and a husband at 50 years of age, looking for employment where news of 2000 more job losses in our own home town, my girlfriend, who lent me the book, would remind me, ‘He is specially fond of you”. When my mother was told she had two months to live in November, when my son was told he may have a brain anerusym or brain tumor, I kept reminding myself, “He is especially fond of me”….

I watched a Christian program on Dec. 16th that had the author of the book on. What an amazing man, what an amazing powerful testimony of SO much pain, hurt, abuse, adultery, on and on his life was shared…I just sat there bawling away.

Happy New Year and May God be gracious to you and your family, bless you and make His face shine upon you!!
